One of the best experiences we have ever had in Mexico was visiting Baja California Sur. While a lot of people are keen to visit “Los Cabos” or “Cabo San Lucas”, since it is one of the most popular destinations for Americans, (especially for those living in the west coast), Balandra Beach Mexico is a less visited destination, but one that is worth taking the time to visit.
We have traveled through Mexico and to many beach destinations in Mexico and we have never seen something like this. To be honest, we were hesitant to visit “La Baja” since we live in Los Angeles, and we were under the impression that “La Baja” was kind of an extension of California therefore every time we had to travel we would choose a different beach in Mexico.
We are glad we took the time to visit Balandra since now we want to go back soon. Since it is very close to us, this could easily become one of our favorite beach destinations in Mexico.
How to visit Balandra Beach Mexico (Baja California Sur)
Balandra is a remote beach and a protected area. Since it is a protected are there are no resorts, or any tourist complex around it, which keeps the beach sort of virgin and free from any resort development.
Take a tour from La Paz
Anywhere in “El Malecon de La Paz” which is kind of the center of the city, you can book a tour that will take you to Balandra. There are buses that leave from “El Malecon” and take you back as well
Take a tour from Los Cabos
Check with your concierge at your hotel in Los Cabos. Balandra is becoming such a popular beach that you can book a tour that leaves from Los Cabos very early in the morning and comes back late at night
Take a boat tour from Los Cabos or La Paz
We think that the best way to experience Balandra is by boat. Usually this trip is combined with a tour to Espiritu Island tour where you can swing with sea lions and see all kinds of ocean life.
Get to La Paz Baja California Sur
There are many ways to get to La Paz in Baja California Sur Mexico.
Take a flight from los Angeles to Los Cabos and then drive or take a bus to La Paz
Take a direct flight to La Paz from Tijuana airport using the CBX (cross border express from San Diego)
Book a ticket to La Paz from anywhere in the U.S. and Canada via Mexico City
